The Budget and Finance Committee prepares the shul budget and monitors and supervises the shul’s finances. The committee, therefore, appears to be aptly named.
The committee also communicates with the shul’s external accountant and troubleshoots various financial issues as they arise. The committee works together with the shul Executive and Board to assess the financial implications of policies and decisions in order to safeguard the financial wellbeing of Bnai Torah. It also reviews tax considerations which may impact on the shul. (We avoided the sub-prime mess.)
